Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

The attacks come after nights of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
